It was quarter to 9 pm, a flea market was about to
close. I dragged my hubby’s hand with naughty smile and entered the market. As
many shops were closed, I was repenting, kaash I would have come early. I still remember at a corner shop for the
first time got a chance to glance at quilled earrings and sets in real. My
heart was smiling and challenged me, “Why can’t you try picking up this beautiful
art?” The feeling was so strong that
till I brought the jewellery making materials and colourful quilling papers I
couldn’t think of anything else.
Quilling was on….. I started exploring new designs and
patterns. Colourful strips rolling, looping, curling, twisting, shaping and
gluing together to make a decorative piece... OMG! I totally fell in love with
this beautiful art. People around me started liking handmade paper earrings and
there was a huge demand. After all it is extra special to gift or buy handmade
items.
It was time for Marketing, never thought that one day
I will be engaged in such a creative and satisfying business. As we search
names for a new born baby, the same way I troubled my close friends and family
to think of a name that should suit my creative endeavour. When they suggested
names I quickly used to search in Google and Facebook and answer was “It
already exists”. One fine day a very
close friend of mine texted me as Kaagaz Kalaagari….
Ting sound came from my heart and it was fixed…. I adore this name and the person.
There are lot of emotions involved in any handmade
creation. Happiness, frustration of not getting things right, excitement,
passion, patience, love and care …… You will never get these feelings from
machine made products!
There is so much to cherish when it comes to handmade
stuffs! But Kagaz Kalaagari earrings are one of my favourites. They are as
light as feather, tailor made, sturdy, hard and water resistant. Spending hours
together with bits and pieces, pain and effort would be ‘chu manter’/vanish
when I see the end result- a stunning pair of earring….. And if styled
photographs come nice then they are cherry on my homemade cake. It’s a
beautiful feeling. Yessssssssss…….. Creativity is a beautiful feeling!!!!!
Do you love yourself? Do you love attention? Do you
love to look unique? ……………
Then come let’s explore Kaagaz Kalaagari collections.
